A few helpful tips:
- Black is the most requested color, followed by dark grey, olive green, navy blue, etc. (folks sleeping rough generally prefer not to attract attention for safety reasons). However, we happily accept squares of every color and pattern.
- If possible, including a note with the type of yarn used in your square(s) helps us give accurate washing and care instructions to recipients, and also helps us be mindful of those with allergies and sensitive skin. Acrylic is our go-to because it is affordable, allergy friendly, and easy to care for, and worsted weight or equivalent is helpful for fitting your squares together with others.
- Feel free to skip weaving in ends and just leave your tails long at cast on and bindoff – it helps us save yarn while seaming!
- If your squares are not exactly 8″, not perfectly square, have mistakes, etc. this is not a huge issue. Don’t worry too much – it generally all evens out when sewn in with lots of other friends!
